About FamilyTruths
A Tool for Comparing Perspectives
Consent-Based • Private • Insightful
Our Commitment to Honesty
Genuine insight requires transparency. FamilyTruths is designed around the core principle of **informed consent**. Our process is not about secretly testing someone, but about creating a structured opportunity to compare two viewpoints honestly. Both you and your parent will be fully aware of the assessment's purpose before participating.
How It Works: A Required Two-Part Process
Step 1: Complete Your Assessment
You begin by completing a 50-question assessment based on your experiences and perceptions of your family dynamic. This establishes your side of the perspective.
Step 2: Invite Your Parent for Their Assessment
After you finish, you will generate a unique link to invite your parent. The invitation clearly and transparently explains the purpose of the tool. Their participation is essential. A comparative report **cannot be generated without their assessment.**
Step 3: Receive Your Comparative Report
Once both assessments are complete, a detailed PDF report is generated. It analyzes the "Perception Gap"—the crucial differences and similarities between your viewpoints—providing unique insight into your relationship dynamic.
What Makes Us Different
✅This Tool IS:
- A structured method for comparing two points of view
- An educational resource for understanding relationship dynamics
- A starting point for a potentially more informed conversation
- A way to identify specific areas of perceptual difference
❌This Tool IS NOT:
- A tool for use without a parent's full consent
- A replacement for professional family therapy
- A weapon to prove one person right and another wrong
- A clinical diagnosis of any person

What if my parent refuses to participate?
Our tool requires both perspectives to generate a comparative report. If your parent declines the transparent invitation, the process cannot be completed. This is a significant finding in itself. It reveals an unwillingness to engage in shared reflection. While you won't get a PDF report, this outcome gives you a clear, real-world answer about the dynamic. We strongly advise against pressuring anyone; consent must be freely given.
What if my parent gives "perfect" answers?
This is also valuable information. If your assessment indicates significant challenges and your parent's indicates none, the report will highlight a large "Perception Gap." This gap is often the most important finding, demonstrating a fundamental difference in how you each experience your relationship.
